Meeting the Needs of Multi-Unit Housing

By Articles, Company
When we designed our ECO-POWR™ Elite line, we didn’t just look at residents of multi-unit housing properties. Yes, like all SportsArt products, our Elite line had to live up to our uncompromising quality standards and deliver the engaging experience that residents are looking for. But we believed this line needed to do so much more, meeting the needs of everyone involved — including the architects who design the fitness amenity, the developers behind new properties, and the property managers themselves.Architects are tasked with turning steel, stone and concrete into structures that are both functional and beautiful. We do the same with our equipment, taking every-day materials and crafting machines that are sleek and modern. ECO-POWR™ Elite looks great, accentuating and enhancing any fitness amenity. With its smaller footprint (when compared to our ECO-POWR™ Status line), Elite also allows any space, large or small, to be configured for maximum effectiveness. And finally, our proprietary energy-generating technology means that ECO-POWR™ Elite actually helps achieve LEED Certification goals.Developers are under pressure to meet an ever-growing list of sustainability goals and mandates. With its energy-generating capabilities, ECO-POWR™ Elite ensures that the fitness amenity supports these objectives. And because every SportsArt product is backed by a great warranty, Elite is a smart and reliable long-term investment that can help reduce costs. Of course, none of this matters if the equipment requires complex wiring or a complicated installation process. Fortunately, Elite plugs right into any standard electrical outlet. In fact, up to six units can daisy-chain into…

IHRSA 2023

By Articles, Company
The SportsArt team was excited to reconnect with familiar faces and meet new ones, last week in San Diego. IHRSA 2023 was an incredible event as always, bringing together the latest ideas and innovations from across the industry. It was so great to see everyone coming out to support the fitness industry whether they were gym owners, vloggers, personal trainers or just individuals who wanted to see what it was all about. As you may have heard, we had our G660 Treadmill on hand, the only treadmill that can claim to be Carbon Negative.  What does that mean?  It means that, within a typical commercial gym setting, each G660 Treadmill generates enough clean electricity to not only offset its certified carbon footprint (independently verified by the British Standards Institution), then continues to return more energy to the grid. To see people stop by, hop on, try it out and then start asking questions was one of our favorite parts of the show! Get all the details on this industry first — and why it matters to you — here.  Stay tuned as we prepare to make an appearance at FIBO in Cologne, Germany, from April 13-16!Check the entire ECO-POWR line of energy-generating equipment.Learn how our innovative ECO-POWR equipment can work for you.

ICAA Going All-in for Wellness

By Articles, Company
Once again, SportsArt was privileged to be a part of the latest Think Tank hosted by the International Council of Active Aging (ICAA). During this forum, industry leaders met to discuss tangible ways that organizations can work to shape and evolve their culture to fully commit to wellness-based senior care. While there has been a general cultural shift toward wellness, there has not been any tangible pathways or guidelines to assist organizations with ‘going all-in’ to serve the active aging population. Download the Think Tank Report and find ways your organization can ‘go all-in’ for wellness today. Here at SportsArt, we were so excited to bring our unique perspective to this discussion and contribute to an actionable plan with the other forum colleagues during this Think Tank. From this discussion, ICAA was able to outline the outcome as a report that provides the steps that can help guide the following elements of an organization: culture, leadership team, belief systems, financial models and staffing models. We believe that when we move, we change the world. This is why we cannot wait to put these findings into practice within our own company culture in order to continue strengthening our own brand value, one that is rooted in the belief that serving others is more important than ourselves.

The 17th Annual ICAA Forum Think Tank

By Articles, Company
We were once again honored to be part of the latest Think Tank hosted by the International Council on Active Aging (ICAA). At this forum, the discussion centered around an emerging business model: Today’s innovative senior living organizations are moving toward a wellness lifestyle, with options for care. While this is ultimately a better and healthier choice for the active aging community, it poses challenges in terms of costs. Think Tank participants worked together to create actionable strategies for funding this new wellness model. This is a topic near and dear to the heart of SportsArt. Our focus has always been on serving the health and wellbeing of our users, our partners and our community. Being part of this forum enabled us to put our values to work in tangible ways by contributing ideas and insights that truly inspire performance for our shared world. Based on the wellness philosophy of a purposeful and engaged life for all residents, customers and staff members, SportsArt along with our forum colleagues identified 11 funding sources, 21 wellness metrics and five categories of Key Performance Indicators. Moving Your Body is Good for Your Mental Health

By Articles, Healthy Living
We’ve all experienced it: you finish up an intense workout or pleasant stroll through the park and your body is tired, but mentally you feel amazing. Naturally, you feel good about reaching goals, staying active, and focusing on your health. But it turns out that physical activity is indisputably linked with mental health benefits. And now, we need those mental health benefits more than ever. According to Mental Health America and their 2021 report, “The State of Mental Health in America,”the prevalence of mental illness among adults was increasing even before COVID-19. Now, the number of people looking for help with anxiety and depression has skyrocketed. “From January to September 2020, 315,220 people took the anxiety screen, a 93 percent increase over the 2019 total number of anxiety screens. 534,784 people took the depression screen, a 62 percent increase over the 2019 total number of depression screens.” The good news is that we can all improve our mental wellbeing simply by moving. The John W. Brick Mental Health Foundation states it simply: “Three decades of science make it clear: exercise should be integrated into prevention and treatment of mental illness and promotion of mental wellness. “ In their 80-page, “Move Your Mental Health Report”, they found that “approximately 89% of all published peer-reviewed research report a positive, statistically significant relationship between exercise/physical activity and mental health.” That’s huge. Of course, an 80-page report is also huge. We didn’t really want to sift through that data either, but luckily for us, IHRSA…

By Articles, Featured Facilities, Sustainability
José Avina, the eco-conscious CEO and owner of Eco Fitness, isn’t your everyday CEO. But then again, Eco Fitness isn’t your everyday gym. José has a dream of becoming the 24-hour fitness of the eco fitness genre. He is well on his way to achieving just that. Nestled cozily between L Street and Liestal Alley in Midtown Sacramento, this open-face gym truly is a diamond in the rough.  As I walked past the gym, the words Eco Fitness popped out at me.  I had to stop and peek inside to see what this was all about. The First Sustainable Fitness Studio is Here and It’s POWERFUL

By Articles, Featured Facilities, Products
Have you noticed the sustainable shift happening in the fitness industry? Lately, there has been less and less talk about the classic little-bits-of-everything fitness clubs that offer a variety of equipment and more talk about the uprising of small ‘boutique’ fitness facilities. But all kinds of boutique facilities -- whether they focus on cycling, HIIT, dance, or personal training -- still face the same obstacles to success: How to retain members while bringing in new ones, all the while keeping costs low, competing with the local gym franchises, and turning a profit. Luckily, there’s one solution for everything: being different in a way that matters. (more…)
